Bibian Mentel-Spee has completed a Para-snowboard treble with victory at the IPC Alpine Skiing Para-Snowboarding World Cup in Aspen ©Getty ImagesBibian Mentel-Spee of The Netherlands has recorded a historic Para-snowboarding treble after claiming gold at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Alpine Skiing World Cup, as the head-to-head format made its debut in Aspen.

Mentel-Spee secured gold in the sport's debut at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games before riding to victory on banked slalom's World Cup debut in Landgraaf in November.

She completed an incredible cleansweep of Para-snowboarding disciplines today as she triumphed once again in the women's SB-LL2 head-to-head contest.

The Dutch racer beat Australia's Joany Badenhorst, returning from injury after crashing out at Sochi 2014 in the gold medal final to take the win, while Heidi Jo Duce of the United States was third, adding to her second place finish from the time-trial.

US riders took all three podium positions in the men's equivalent Sochi silver medallist Mike Shea beat team mate Dustin Fleming into second, while Keith Gabel rounded off the podium in third to add further World Cup points to his tally.

Mike Schultz added to the US gold medal haul as he secured a second gold medal in as many days with victory over Italy's Giuseppe Communale in the men's SB-LL1.

Andre Pereira won Brazil's first World Cup meal after coming home third in this event.

The women's equivalent saw France's Cecile Hernandez-Cervillon claim her second medal of the week after she edged out American Nicole Roundy.

Roundy's teammate Brenna Huckaby continued a recent run of podium finishes in third.

In the men's upper impairment race Great Britain's Ben Moore took his first career win with victory over Jay Gaines of the United States.

Italian Manuel Pozzerle completed the podium in third.

The head-to-head format's debut at the World Cup was widely praised by athletes at the event with many taking to social media to express their delight at the event.

"There's something about blue dye on snow that gets me so excited [...] I'm so stoked to see how my sport is evolving," US Paralympic champion Evan Strong said on Instagram.

Roundy added on her Instagram: "I came so very close to first"

"Let's just say the last 10 seconds were very exciting.

"I'm looking forward to the Canada World Cup."

The next IPC Alpine Skiing Para-Snowboard World Cup takes place between January 17 and 19 in Big White, Canada and will feature head-to-head and banked slalom events.
