Following an impressive bronze medal in yesterday's downhill event, Jakub Krako, and guide Martin Motyka, stepped up the gears once more and showed a glimpse of the form that won him three gold medals at Vancouver 2010.

The Slovakian finished a remarkable eight seconds ahead of Russia's Ivan Frantsev and his guide German Agranovskii, who narrowly edged Italian Alessandro Daldoss and guide Luca Negrini, winners of two downhill events earlier this week.

In the women's event, Henrietta Farkasova, guided by Natalia Surtova, took gold in what was her first World Cup race of the year following an injury she picked up in last year's World Championships, where she won titles in both the downhill and slalom events.

The Slovakian pair finished ahead of Britain's in-form Kelly Gallagher and guide Charlotte Evans, who claimed her second silver in as many days at the Tignes World Cup.

France's Marie Bouchet bounced back from her defeat to Germany's Andrea Rothfuss in the women's standing class.

The duo have been neck and neck in this World Cup competition thus far, having claimed a gold apiece, but it was the multiple world champion Bouchet who came out on top in emphatic style in the giant slalom as she finished more than five seconds ahead of her German rival.

The men's standing event saw Austria's Markus Salcher complete a hat-trick of gold medals as he continues to look unstoppable on his road to Sochi.

The Austrian currently sits second in the World Cup rankings - behind teammate Mitchell Gourley - but was fastest in both his runs to finish ahead of Switzerland's Thomas Pfyl and Russian Alexey Bugaev.

Germany's Anna Schaffelhuber was another to earn her third gold medal of the World Cup as she overcame Britain's Anna Turney and Germany's Anna-Lena Forster in the women's sitting class.

Turney and Foster will be delighted with their results, which are their best of the World Cup season so far.

Yesterday's downhill winner Christoph Kunz of Switzerland improved his chances of topping the giant slalom World Cup rankings at the end of the season by beating current American world number one Tyler Walker into second.

The gap between the two is now just 14 points.

Austria's Roman Rabl completed the podium in third.

Races continue in Tignes tomorrow with the super-combined, before skiers head to St. Moritz from February 3 until 6 for the next World Cup.
