After beating the United States husband and wife paring of Danielle and Rob Umstead to top spot on the opening day, Etherington and Powell once again find themselves atop the podium after edging teammate Kelly Gallagher and guide Charlotte Evans - who did not compete in the opening race - by less than half a second.

The US duo completed the podium in third, just three seconds behind the leaders.

"We communicated very well today and we felt really good," said Etherington.

"[I'm] Happy to win for the second time in two days."

The rivalry between Germany's Andrea Rothfuss and France's Marie Bochet continued in the women's standing class, with the German getting the better of her French counterpart for the first time this season.

Rothfuss avenged her narrow loss to Bochet on the opening day of competition with an equally tight affair in today's race.

Bochet, who won five world titles in 2013, has beaten Rothfuss twice in women's World Cup standing downhill races this season.

However, Rothfuss, a downhill world silver medallist behind Bochet last year, claimed a much-needed confidence boosting victory over her French rival, setting up what will be an extremely exciting exchange in Sochi come March.

Downhill world champion Austrian Markus Salcher recorded another impressive win in the men's standing event to record his third win of the season.

His Swiss rival Michael Bruegger finished one better than he did on the opening day of racing, taking silver ahead of French double world champion Vincent Gauthier.

There was no change to the top two in the men's visually impaired class as Italy's Alessandro Daldoss and guide Luca Negrini again triumphed over Slovakia's Miroslav Haruas and guide Maros Hudik.

Third place went to another Slovakian, Jakub Krako and guide Martin Motyka, who was disqualified at gate 10 in the race yesterday.

Reigning Paralympic downhill champion Christoph Kunz showed that he is a real medal contender for Sochi with a victory in the men's sitting event.

The Swiss double Paralympic medallist finished ahead of the Netherlands' Kees-Jan van der Klooster in second and Germany's Thomas Nolte in third.

Germany's Anna Schaffelhuber was the only athlete to finish in the women's sitting event as the slalom world champion finished in 1 min 28.10sec to add another 100 points to her World Cup lead.

Races are due to continue in Tignes tomorrow with giant slalom and conclude on Friday (January 31), before skiers head to St. Moritz, Switzerland, from February 3 until 6.
