Bromley ParalympicsOctober 31 - Yorkshire-based company Bromley Technologies Ltd has won a contract with the International Skeleton and Bobsleigh Federation (ISBF) to design and manufacture the sport's first generation of elite Paralympic skeleton sleds that could make their debut at Pyeongchang 2018.

Sliding sports are not yet on the programme for the Winter Paralympics, meaning that they will not appear at the next Games here in Sochi in 2014.

However, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) are said to be looking at include sliding sports at Pyeongchang 2018 and the work of Bromley could be crucial in helping the move become a reality.

"It's an exciting time for international skeleton sport as the ISBF begins a journey to realise its vision of expanding into the Paralympic domain," said Bromley co-founder and director Richard Bromley (pictured top left).

"We are delighted that the ISBF has chosen Bromley as a partner to realise the technological side of this vision.

"This is a big challenge and opportunity for us to be part of this pioneering stage.

"We pride ourselves on developing innovative performance equipment with a strong customer support ethos, and we are looking forward to extending this ethos into the Paralympic sports with the ISBF."

Bromley have manufactured elite skeleton bobsleighs for over 12 years which have been used by some of the world's top able-bodied athletes.

They include company co-founder and chief executive Kristan Bromley (pictured top right), a triple Winter Olympian and triple crown winner, and his wife Shelley Rudman, the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic silver medallist and skeleton World Cup champion who is likely to be one of Britain's biggest gold medal contenders at Sochi 2014.

"We believe our success is down to maintaining a focus on finding a competitive edge through innovation through our products, whilst pursuing a focussed and streamlined business plan," said Kristan Bromley.

"The Bromley brand has a growing presence within the action sports world and currently exports over 95 per cent of its business.

"As a company we're in the final stages of developing a new snow sport product that will see Bromley enter the mainstream action sport markets."
