The Fisht Olympic Stadium will tomorrow be at the centre of a show comprising music and culture to herald nine days of sporting action.

Soprano Maria Guleghina, who is an International Paralympic Committee Honorary Board member, will perform the "Cossack Lullaby" based on the poem of Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov.

She also performed at the Closing Ceremony of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

Singer Yulia Samoylova and award-winning accordion virtuoso Alexey Levchuk will also take part in the ceremony.

Yulia, who is in a wheelchair, and Alexey, who is visually impaired, will be among around 150 people with disabilities taking part in the Opening Ceremony.

All together, around 2,500 volunteers will be either taking part in the Ceremony itself, or helping backstage.

The Ceremony Staging Agency, established by Sochi 2014, has been responsible for staff casting and training of volunteers.
