Octoshape provided more than 780 hours of live sport across the IPC's five online channels during London 2012 and for Sochi 2014 over 300 hours of action will be broadcast online with the company claiming that technical improvements such as geo-targeting, picture-in-picture capabilities and video time-shifting will provide the viewer with a greater viewing experience.

"It is a clear validation of our ability to provide an exceptional consumer video experience to any user on any device anywhere in the world."

Yesterday the IPC announced that four high definition channels will show live coverage of the Nordic skiing, alpine skiing, ice sledge hockey and wheelchair curling events with a fifth broadcasting a mixture of each sport.

Live coverage of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will also be shown live on one of the five HD channels.

In addition to the five online HD channels, highlights of each day's action will be available on the IPC's YouTube channel including individual matches from the ice sledge hockey and wheelchair curling competitions.
