Kunieda secures the men's title for the third successive year after beating French world number seven Nicolas Peifer 6-1, 6-1 at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.

The win tops off an incredible season for the Japanese world number one after he won all four Grand Slam titles for the fourth time in his illustrious career.

The three-time Paralympic champion was much too strong for his French counterpart, dominating the encounter from start to finish to lift one of the most prestigious trophies on the wheelchair tennis circuit.

Van Koot was pushed all the way to the line by team mate Jiske Griffioen in their all-Dutch women's final as she came from a set down to win the match 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Van Koot has had a frustrating season in 2014, missing out on titles at Rolland Garros and the US Open after loses to Japanese world number one Yui Kamiji.

With Kamiji defeated by Griffioen in yesterday's semi-finals, Van Koot was eager to pounce on the opening, and was successful in winning her first Masters title, after twice finishing runner up in the competition.

Defending champion Kamiji would suffer yet more defeat in today's third place playoff as she was beaten by Great Britain's Jordanne Whiley 6-3,6-3.

It was the second time Whiley had beaten her doubles partner this week with the pair securing all four Grand Slam titles together in 2014.

It was another British player who would take third in the men's competition as Gordon Reid beat The Netherlands' Maikel Scheffers 6-0, 6-3 in front of a record sell out crowd on his home court.
