His opening match opponent is Dutchman Maikel Scheffers, who won the title at Roland Garros in 2011.

Houdet beat Japan's Shingo Kunieda in the final of the French Open in 2012 and 2013, and could meet him again in the showpiece match this year.

Kunieda, the number one seed, plays Frenchman Nicolas Peifer today.

The world's top seven men and women players are competing for the singles titles, with two wildcards also in the mix.

Peifer - who won the men's doubles in 2011 when he played with Kunieda - is one of those wildcards picks, together with countrywoman Charlotte Famin, who will be playing in the tournament for the first time.

German Sabrine Ellerbrock will defend her women's singles crown, her first Grand Slam title, which she followed up with victory at the Australian Open in January.

She has recently lost her world number one ranking to Japan's Yui Kamiji, who she beat in the final in Melbourne, and they could face each other once again in the final.

Ellerbrock's opening match opponent is wildcard Famin, while Kamiji plays Jordanne Whiley of Great Britain.

The finals are due to be played on Friday (June 6).
