Brazil have won the 2014 Big Maximus Championships in Niteroi, Brazil ©Chelsea Jerome/IWRFBrazil have secured qualification to the wheelchair rugby event at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games after winning the Big Maximus Championships in Niteroi.

The Championships, which served as the South American sub-regional qualification tournament, brought together teams from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

The top four finishers at the tournament gained direct qualification slots for the Parapan American Games.

The hosts topped the billing at the Championships, winning all four of their games to take the title and earn the first qualification spot for Toronto 2015.

Argentina came in second with three of four wins.

The Argentines only loss came at the hands of eventual winners Brazil, the latter taking a 65-30 victory in the second round.

Colombia finished third, winning their first two games against Peru and Uruguay and losing to Brazil and Argentina.

Chile took the final qualification spot, winning against Paraguay and Peru.

The wheelchair rugby tournament at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games will consist of six teams in total.

The missing two spots will be filled by host country Canada,and the United States, the top ranked team at the 2013 IWRF Americas Championship.

The Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games are due take place from August 7 until 15.
