The competition in Denmark was the sport's first major international event since the London 2012 Paralympic Games and featured eight of the world's top teams.

The competition served as the official test event for the 2014 International Wheelchair Rugby (IWRF0 World Championships at the venue next year with the final pitting the US against reigning Paralympic champions Australia.

A tight encounter saw the first-half finish level at 30-30 but the US, spearheaded by the superb Chuck Aoki, produced the stronger second-half as the Paralympic bronze medallists claimed a five point win to replace the Australian's as the world's number one ranked side.

The bronze medal match saw Britain take on Paralympic silver medallists Canada.

The game saw Canada's Zak Madell pull the strings for his side and at final buzzer, his country deservedly took the bronze medal by comfortably defeating Britain 55-40.

Following the bronze medal victory, Madell was named as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

In the fifth and sixth place place match, Japan defeated host nation Denmark 52-49 while in the seventh and eighth place game, Sweden narrowly beat Belgium 49-48.
