Great Britain lead their group with three wins in as many days at the World Wheelchair Basketball Championship ©British Wheelchair BasketballGreat Britain, Spain, the United States and Australia have risen to the top in their groups at the Men's World Wheelchair Basketball Championship after the preliminary rounds in the South Korean city of Incheon.

Britain lead Group A after they secured their third win in as many days when they defeated Mexico 74-54 today.

"We are now three from three going into the second group stage and it's going to get harder and we know we have more in us," Britain's Ian Sagar said.

"Fingers crossed we can carry on this momentum and keep on winning.

"It's a team effort and I'm sure at points it's very beautiful basketball and from the sidelines it looks very very good, we just now have to make it count."

Second in Group A is hosts South Korea after they claimed a 55-46 victory over third placed Argentina, while Mexico finishes in fourth.

Group B is headed up by Spain after their 47-56 win over The Netherlands, who finish bottom of the pack in fourth.

Despite narrowly defeating Japan 73-69 today, Iran finish in third place and Japan in second in the group.

Paralympic and world bronze medallists the US top Group C following their 43-50 win over Colombia, who finished third.

Meanwhile, Turkey's damning 69-39 defeat of Algeria sees the two nations ending the preliminary round in second and fourth place in the group respectively.

Finally, it is defending world champions and Paralympic silver medallists Australia who finish atop of Group D following their convincing 65-45 win over third placed Italy.

Germany finished in second place in the group, while Sweden finish in fourth after the two nations' latest match saw Germany take the game 67-49.

"We have seen some very close groups," said an International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) statement.

"Two of the groups resulted in three-way ties for second place and the placements were decided by points for and against percentage."

New groups have now been created for the next round of play, which takes place tomorrow and Wednesday (July 9).

Group E consists of Britain, Spain, Iran, South Korea, Japan and Argentina; Group F comprises Australia, the US, Italy, Turkey, Germany, Colombia; and Group G features Mexico, The Netherlands, Algeria and Sweden.
