Brazil claim South American Wheelchair Basketball Championships

November 29 - Brazil have claimed the South American Wheelchair Basketball Championships by beating old rivals Argentina 64-54 in the final in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. In a closely fought match Brazil's Everaldo Lima and Argentina's Maximillain Ruggeri had their own personal duel as each scored 27 points.
Colombia claimed the bronze medal as they beat hosts Venezuela 60-43 in the playoff with Nelson Sanz scoring 18 points.
Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Venezuela all qualified for the Americas Cup which is due to take place in Colombia next year from August 11 until 18.
They will take their place alongside Mexico, Puerto Rico, El Salvador and Nicaragua from the Central America and Caribbean Championship and Canada and the United States with the top four from that tournament qualifying for the World Championship being held in Goyang City, Korea in 2014.

BPA performance director Penny Briscoe will be ParalympicsGB Chef de Mission for Sochi 2014 in what will be her sixth Paralympic Games and she will be aiming to ensure that the team win a medal, as Tom Degun reports
