rwanda-flagDecember 21 - Rwanda have secured qualfication for the London 2012 Paralympic Games after winning a three day African sub-Saharan sitting volleyball championship.

Routine 3-0 victories in the group stages over Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi, another victory over Burundi in the semi-finals, the score 3-1, and a 3-0 final victory in Kigali against Kenya meant Rwanda could begin their 2012 preparations.

National Paralympic Committee of Rwanda (NPCR) Secretary General, Celestin Nzeyimana, said success was a result of hard work.

"The players and coaching staff put in a lot of hard work in the build-up to the tournament and deserve the victory," he said.

"But there is little time to celebrate as we need to start preparations for next year's Games."

"Our plan is to start preparations early so that we have a successful campaign."

Rwanda now joins six other teams that have qualified for the Paralympics.

They join Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Egypt, Great Britain, Iran and Russia.
