European champion Rob Davies led the way in the seated class one event, beating France's Jean-Francois Ducay in the final.

The world number one had already faced the Frenchman in the group stages, breezing to a 3-0 victory on that occasion.

The final proved a harder test for the 29-year-old Welshman as he had to fight back from 2-1 down to secure a 3-2 win over Ducay, who had beaten Germany's Paralympic and world champion Holger Nikelis in the semi-final.

Leeds medical student Kim Daybell also showed great resolve on his way to winning gold in the standing class 10 event, after he came from 2-0 down against France's Karim Boumedouha to win 3-2 in the semi-final.

The 21-year-old carried this confident form into the final and claimed the gold medal with a 3-1 win over Russia's Pavel Lukyanov.
