IPC Swimming is looking for bidders for the 2017 World and 2018 European editions.

"Rio 2016 has the potential to exceed all expectations and the 2017 and 2018 IPC Swimming World and European Championships will be an opportunity for countries, cities, communities, media and fans to be part of that growth and bring it to even greater heights," said IPC chief executive Xavier Gonzalez.

"Swimming attracted the most accumulated global TV viewers during the whole of London 2012, so the chance to host these great festivals of sport should be irresistible to potential organisers."

Glasgow in Great Britain will host the 2015 World Championships, following on from Montreal, Canada, last year.

That event saw more than 480 athletes from 53 countries compete for top honours.

The Glasgow Championships are expected to see around 700 swimmers take to the water to compete.

Eindhoven in the Netherlands is staging this year's IPC Swimming European Championships.

Bidders will be asked to provide international standard competition and accommodation facilities, as well as provide a host broadcaster and ensure media can the competitions.

Prospective bidders have until August 31 to submit their applications.
