And with coverage being streamed live from the Parc Jean Drapeau at ParalympicSport.TV on every evening of the Championships, which will see the largest gathering of Paralympic swimmers since London 2012, the action will be available at one click of a mouse.

IPC communications and media director Craig Spence spoke of the growth of Para-sport and the continuing momentum from London 2012 which has seen the Movement become more prevalent worldwide than ever before.

"Lyon 2013 was a record breaker in so many ways and the huge attendance of media and fans showed that Para-sport has entered the mainstream in countries where it never has before," he said.

"We are really excited to be heading to Montreal and are confident that the swimming Championships can be just as gripping, with some big rivalries and top names competing."

Among the big guns setting off for Montreal is Brazil's seven-time Paralympic champion Andre Brasil, who will attempt to defend the mighty seven S5 category world titles that he won in the Dutch city of Eindhoven back in 2010, following on from the three gold medals he took at London 2012. 

But perhaps an even more menacing prospect than his compatriot is the man who bought back six gold medals and smashed four world records at London 2012, Daniel Dias, who will face the arduous task of defending seven world titles across the S5 category.

Britain's Ellie Simmonds is another multiple-time Paralympic champion that will be looking to defend numerous world titles, four to be exact, in the S6 category, and Russian-born American Jessica Long will take on her Russian rival Olesya Vladykina once again as she looks to finally get the better of her on her mission to defend the six S8 category world titles she won in Eindhoven. 

The Championships are due take place from August 12 until 18, and coverage can be found online here, whilst televised coverage will be shown on Channel Four in the UK, on Globo-Sport TV in Brazil and in some European Broadcasting Union (EBU) territories.
