535419691July 3 - New Zealand Paralympic shooter  Michael Johnson broke the world record on his way to gold in the R4 air rifle 10 metre standing event at he International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Cup event in Stoke Mandeville, also taking a bronze medal and helping his team-mates to silver in the team event. 

In this, the third and penultimate World Cup event of the year, London 2012 flagbearer Johnson followed up his bronze medal in the R5 air rifle prone event with a stunning display in the R4 air rifle standing event, taking gold for New Zealand and setting a world best.

Team-mates Grant Phillip and Robert Smith finished behind Johnson in ninth and 30th position respectively in the same event.

There was also an Oceania record for Johnson in the R3 air rifle prone as he finished in eighth place, before the team united to take silver in the team event and complete their trifecta of medals.

Paralympics New Zealand high performance director Malcolm Humm said: "This was a great performance from our team at the World Cup to take away three medals and a world record,

"It also provided a valuable experience for development athletes, Reid, Philip & Smith."
