A lack of wind has disrupted the action on day four of the IFDS Combined Sailing World Championships in Halifax ©AFP/Getty ImagesFor a second day lack of wind hampered racing at the Disabled Sailing Combined World Championships in Halifax, Canada, where only the SKUD 18 class races were completed, in which Australians Daniel Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch took control.

Racing was abandoned after wind shifts of 90 degrees or more on the 2.4 mR course, while in the Sonar class, racing was delayed, then started and called off in the middle of the first race due to lack of wind.

The standings in both remain unchanged as German Heiko Kroeger leads in the 2.4mR ahead of Frenchman Damien Seguin and Great Britain's Megan Pascoe.

Canadians Paul Tingley, Scott Lutes and Logan Campbell top the leader board in the Sonar class, with defending champions Bruno Jourdren, Eric Flageul and Nicolas Vimont-Vicary of France in second ahead of British trio John Robertson, Hannah Stodel and Stephen Thomas.

There was better luck for the competitors in the SKUD 18 class as they managed to complete two races, and it was London 2012 gold medal winners Fitzgibbon and Tesch who took full advantage.

The Australian duo recorded two wins on the day to wrestle control of the class away from defending champions Alexandra Rickham and Niki Birrell of Britain.

Rickham and Birrell, going for a sixth consecutive world title, had led overnight but a fourth and a second in today's outings sees them sit behind their Australian rivals.

A solid showing from Italian duo Marco Gualandris and Marta Zanetti, recording second and third place finishes has them in third place overall.

Organisers of the event at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron have announced that all competitors will be going out earlier tomorrow as officials work to make sure as much racing as possible is carried out during the regatta.

The first signal for the 2.4 mR fleet is due to be at 11am Atlantic Daylight Time and at noon ADT for the sonar and SKUD 18 classes.
