Richard Browne has his eyes fixed on breaking the 21 second barrier in the 200m T44 ©Getty ImagesAfter shaving three tenths off his own 200 metres T44 world record yesterday, American Richard Browne has set his sights on the ambitious aim of breaking the elusive 21-second barrier.

Browne crossed the finish line in 21.62sec at the Memorial Van Damme Diamond League meeting in Brussels, Belgium, 0.29 faster than the world record he set in April.

But that has only left the Paralympic silver medallist in the 100m T44 wanting more.

"I'm only about 90 per cent right now," he said.

"Hopefully I can get down to that 20 point something range which is my aim for next year.

"In 2015, with a full year of training behind me - hopefully I can stay healthy as I've had a few injuries - I can get it down below 21 seconds.

"That's the aim."

An individual gold medal at a major Championships still eludes the 23-year-old, who backed up his 100m London 2012 silver with another at the World Championships in Lyon last year.

Browne added: "I've been here for a year now and all I hear is that Jonnie [Peacock] is the world champion.

"I'm growing really tired of it, so hopefully next year I cannot only break the world record in the 100m again, but become world champion in the 100m and 200m."
