Tahti, a World Championship gold medallist in Lyon last year, was the dominant figure in the men's T54 sprint events, taking wins in the 100 metres, 200m and 400m.

Double Paralympic and four-time world champion Ktila did not disappoint the home crowd at the Olympic Athletics Stadium as he triumphed in the T34 100m and 800m races, although he was denied a hat-trick of wins after being disqualified from the 400m event.

Ktila also came close to breaking his own world record when he posted a time of 15.37sec in the 100m, just 0.04 outside his world mark.

Tunisia had further success in the field events in the form of world champion Raoua Tlili, who saw off the challenge of team mate Fathia Amaimia to win the women's F40/F41 discus, while Paralympic champion Maroua Ibrahmi took the F32/F33 shot put title with a throw of 5.83 metres.

Ibrahmi had to settle for second place in the club throw event as she lost out to London 2012 silver medallist Mounia Gasmi of Algeria, who took the win with an effort of 22.03m.

Indeed, Algeria more than held its own in the battle with its north African neighbour, with Paralympic champion Kamel Kardjena claiming wins in both the F33 shot put and javelin, while London 2012 silver medal winner Karim Betina was the dominant force in the F32 shot put with an effort of 8.52m.

There was further success for Algeria on the track as World Championship bronze medallist Nacer-Eddine Karfas won the T12 5,000m event.

The women's F56/57 shot put competition provided one of the highlights of the meeting and once again an Algerian athlete was heavily involved.

Mexico's world and Paralympic champion Angeles Ortiz Hernandez looked to have the win in the bag after registering an impressive throw of 10.23m, but with her last throw of the event, Nassima Saifi managed an effort of 10.22m to come up just 1cm short of the Mexican.

The IPC Athletics Grand Prix series now heads to Berlin, where around 570 athletes from 34 countries are expected to compete this coming weekend from June 20 to 22.

The final of the IPC Athletics Grand Prix is due to take place at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on August 25.
