In a day that saw four regional records broken, Liu was the star of the show, throwing 35.48 metres to smash the previous record set by China's Hongyan Xu in January 1999 and add another victory to the bronze she secured in last year's World Championships.

On the track, 2011 world silver medallist Jin Zheng continued his perilous home form to lower Japan's Mikiko Masuda's previous 800m T11 Asian record, set in March 2003, by more than 32 seconds en route to victory.

The 22-year-old ran an impressive 2min 22.32sec to blow away the field and break his second Asian record in as many days following his 1,500m success on the opening day of action.

A further Asian record was broken in the women's 400m T44 as Xiahong Wang secured victory in a time of 1:09.30 to lower her previous record, set in the same event last year, by almost two seconds.

One of the most eagerly anticipated races of the day was the women's 100m T54, where Paralympic champion and world record holder Wenjun Liu of China faced compatriot, London 2012 silver medallist and 2011 world champion, Hongjiao Dong.

As was the case at London 2012, this encounter saw Liu come out on top, blowing away her team-mate to finish in 16.70sec, over half a second faster than Dong.

New Zealand's Holly Robinson, silver medallist in the F46 javelin at this event last year, showed her competitive versatility as she switched the javelin for the shot put and romped to victory in a new Oceanic record, throwing 10.84m to overcome London 2012 F44 shot put silver medallist Juan Yao of China.

China's Paralympic champion Liwan Yang showed the sort of form that secured her gold in London as she threw 7.29m, just 23 centimetres shorter than her gold medal-winning throw at the Paralympic Games, to win the women's shot put F54.

Paralympic and world champion Fuliang Liu was also nearly back to his best as he won the men's triple jump F47 in 14.59m, 15cm less than the leap that won him Paralympic gold in 2012.

Things went from good to great for the Chinese youngster in the afternoon session as he added a second gold to his tally, this time in the 100m T47 with a time of 11.83.

Chinese Taipei's Chih Chung Chiang is also back to his world beating best with the 34-year-old, who won Paralympic gold in 2000 and 2004, throwing 58.30m in the men's javelin F12 to beat London 2012 champion Pengkai Zhu by nearly four metres.

Action in the IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Beijing continues through to tomorrow.
