Weir agrees new sponsorship deal with recruitment firm

January 3 - David Weir has signed a new two-year sponsorship deal with Penta Consulting, a recruitment company based in Wallington, the wheelchair racer's home town in Surrey.
Weir, who won four gold medals at the London 2012 Paralympics, will become a brand ambassador for the company who were rated as the UK's number one "Giving Something Back" programme by The Sunday Times last year.
"We will be supporting David over the next two years in the build up to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 as he competes all around the world," said Paul Clark, chief executive and founder of Penta.
"We are absolutely thrilled to be championing David as there is such a natural fit between him and our company, both locally and internationally.
"Penta and David are both top Wallington 'brands' that compete on the international stage and both are wholly committed to supporting local charities and not for profit organisations in the local community."
Weir is targeting winning a record seventh Virgin London Marathon title this year and competing in next year's Commonwealth Games at Glasgow.
The new deal is some consolation for Weir after he was controversially overlooked for a knighthood last week in the Queen's New Years Honours list.
"I am very happy to be associated with such a successful global company and I like the fact that Penta is based in Wallington where I come from," said Weir, who has now won a total of six Paralympic gold medals in his career.
"I'm looking forward to being involved with them over the next two years."
