The sport recently underwent an overhaul, which included a name change from electric wheelchair hockey to powerchair hockey ©IWAS/FacebookThe Powerchair Hockey International Committee (PCHC) has launched a competition for the design of its new logo.

The contest comes after the governing body recently underwent an overhaul, which included a name change for the sport itself from electric wheelchair hockey to powerchair hockey.

The changes, agreed with the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation at the sport's Assembly after the World Championship in Munich in August last year, have been brought in to bring the discipline in line with other international sports organisations and come as the sport bids to join the programme at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

It is hoped they will also help to develop the sport further internationally and make it an important global sport for people with severe disabilities.

Everyone can take part in the logo competition and the winner will be awarded a VIP package to the European Championship finals in spring next year.

The prize includes front row seats for the gold medal final, entry to the farewell dinner and party, and a meet and greet with the champions.

The proposed logo designs can be sent in any format, including sketches, to [email protected].

All entries must be received by Saturday (January 31) this year and the winner will be announced by the end of February.
