The British star, who is also a national able-bodied champion, took gold in Edinburgh just two weeks ago, when Para-taekwondo made its debut at the Commonwealth Tawkeondo Championships.

This followed the gold medal she won in Moscow at the fifth edition of the World Para-Taekwondo Championships.

The 25-year-old was back to her best in Turkey today as she stormed to gold in the K44 over 58 kilogram category with wins over Russia's Zaira Irazieva and Turkey's Kadriye Turgut inside the Maritim Pine Resort Hotel Convention Center.

More than 75 athletes from 15 nations made the trip to the Turkish resort for these Championships, as they set their sights on winning one of the 16 gold medals on offer.

Russia ended the one-day contest on top in terms of gold medals as they travel home with five newly-crowned European champions.

In one of just two K41 competitions, Spartak Gazzaev began the Russian medal haul as he overcame Poland's Przemyslaw Wieczorek 11-6 in the men's over 75kg final.

This was followed by gold in the second K41 contest with Sakinat Magomedova defeating team mate Sevil Abdulova 8-1 in the women's under 49kg.

Russia continued to dominate in the men's K42 under 61kg category where Vladislav Krichfalushii edged local favourite Mehmet Sami Sarac 17-16 in an agnolisingly close gold medal final.

Azerbaijan would pick up a pair of bronze medals in this weight division courtesy of losing semi-finalists Anar Huseynov and Devran Hasanov.

Bronze turned to gold in the men's K42 under 75kg competition as Nijat Muslumov coolly disposed of Poland's Kubiak 13-1 to win the gold by points gap.

Malik Mukashev earned Kazakhstan their first medal of the day by securing a bronze in this contest, alongside Turkey's Mehmet Serkan Serpici,

Aleksandr Polishuk made it two-in-two for Azerbaijan after he beat Kazkh athlete Nyshan Omirali in the men's K42 over 75kg category.

Russian success continued in the men's K44 under75kg where Magomedzadir Isaldibirov came out on top of a tough tussle with Turkey's Hasim Celik.

Gold number five came in the male open under 61kg division with Erlan Irgaliev taking on team mate Leon Tsvizhba.

Irgaliev would walk out on top of this fixture after a dominating 21-9 points gap win.

The women's K44 under 58kg category brought a third gold medal for Azerbaijan as Aynur Mammadova bested Turkey's Gulsun Demiral Celik in a tight 503 final.

Six of the final seven gold medals were shared between France, Turkey and Croatia with each nation earning two apiece, while Spain would pick up the remaining one.

Bopha Kong and Laure Anne Seytor were on top for France as they won the men's K43 under 61kg and female open under 58kg categories with victories against Spain's Alejandro Vidal Alvarez and Maria De Los Angeles Contreras Cerrajeria respectively.

Busra Gor and Yasar Sami Gokbaba gave the home crowds reason to cheer as they won the hosts two gold medals with wins over Russia's Elena Beliaeva Ukraine's Anton Shvets in the women's K44 under 49 and male K43 under 75kg.

Croatia's gold medals came courtesy of Ivan Mikulic in the men's K4 over 75kg, and Luka Bakovic in the men's open under 75kg.

Aythami Santana Santana won Spain's gold medal after defeating Rovshan Gahramanli of Azerbaijan in the men's K44 under 61kg final.
