But local Councillor Angela McClements noticed the plaque attached to the post box had been vandalised.

The police have been contacted and are now investigating.

"I was doing my regular walk round the ward yesterday and I always have a look at the postbox," McClements told The Shropshire Star.

It was then that I noticed the missing plaque.

"Mickey is a hero to everyone in Telford and Wrekin.

"It is the only gold postbox in the whole of Shropshire and I am disappointed and angry someone has seemingly vandalised it."
