The Disabled Golf Association has released its calendar for 2015 ©DGAThe Disabled Golf Association (DGA) has unveiled its calendar for 2015, which will see its players visit a number of top class UK venues.

Among the calendar's highlights is the Race to Burhill, which was launched in 2013 in association with one of the UK's largest golf course operators BGL Golf.

The national tournament series is played across seven BGL courses with the top three golfers from each competing in the final at Burhill Golf Club in Surrey.

Birchwood Park in Kent and Thornbur in Bristol are due to host the first two legs on March 20 and 27 respectively, before The Shropshire on May 8 and Abbey Hill, Buckinghamshire on June 18.

Ramsdale Park in Nottingham and Hoebridge in Surrey are scheduled to stage events on August 7 and 14 respectively, with the seventh taking place at Wycombe Heights on September 4.

The Race to Burhill final, which was won by spinal arthritis sufferer Kevin White last year, is scheduled for October 23.

Visits to Brocket Hall, Hertfordshire, on June 1 and the Shire, London, for the Golf Trust Disabled Open on July 27, also rank highly on the coming year's schedule which is set to start at Hurtmore, Surrey, on March 6.

"Our main focus is on golf as a therapy and for rehabilitation, but that's not to say there isn't some stiff competition," said Graeme Robertson, DGA national events coordinator.

"We had a very successful 2014.

"Our sincere thanks have to go for the support from captain's charities around the country, so we can carry out providing an opportunity for all kinds of disabled people to enjoy golf for competition, and the all important 19th hole.

"Going to clubs who are genuinely interested in what we do makes a world of difference."

The DGA will be running an order of merit throughout the year with Team England places up for grabs to play against Wales for the Oldfield Trophy at the Vale, Glamorgan on September 13 and 14.

Former professional golfer Mark James, joint third at the 1981 British Open before going on to captain Europe at the 1999 Ryder Cup, has been a patron and ambassador for the DGA since April 2013.
