IPC Wheelchair Dance Sport is looking for host for the 2015 World Championships ©Jacek RedaInternational Paralympic Committee (IPC) Wheelchair Dance Sport is calling for organisers to come forward to host the 2015 World Championships.

Potential organisers have been given until March 10 to submit an expression of interest to host what is the sport's most prestigious competition.

The event will follow the successful 2014 European Championships in Lomianki, Poland, in November, with IPC chief executive Xavier Gonzalez believing that potential organisers have an opportunity to raise the profile of their cities and venues and be part of the growth of wheelchair dance.

"Lomianki 2014 attracted great interest from the public, including the attendance of one of the biggest news agencies in the world, national TV coverage and the Patronage of the First Lady of Poland," he said.

"The potential for cities and countries to be part of this legacy and enter the history books of wheelchair dance by organising the biggest competition on the calendar is huge."

In addition to Latin and standard dances, in 2015 the competition programme will include singles and freestyle, which made successful major international debuts at Lomianki 2014.

The 2013 World Championships were held in Tokyo, Japan, and attracted over 160 athletes from 20 countries.

That competition led to the addition of the very first Asian Pacific Cup in Beijing, China, in 2014, and another competition in Astana, Kazakhstan.
