Swansea 2014 has won the gold award for Best Sporting Campaign in Wales for 2014 ©Swansea 2014This year's International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics European Championships in Swansea has been voted the Best Sporting Campaign in Wales for 2014.

The public relations campaign for the Games was handed the gold award at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Cymru Wales PRide Awards in the category of Best Sporting Campaign.

Judged by a leading panel of 63 public relations experts, the CIPR PRide Awards represent the best, most creative and most effective public relations work across Great Britain.

The awards were presented at Cardiff's Mercure Holland House and Spa.

This was the 11th year of the awards, which received around 1,100 entries across all categories, with 350 then shortlisted.

In total 22 awards were presented across different aspects of public relations.

Following the ceremony Val Bodden, chair of CIPR Cymru Wales said: "All the hard work and perseverance has paid off for our deserving winners at this year's CIPR Pride Cymru Awards evening.

"It is always a delight to see the smiling faces of the gold and silver winners as they step up to collect their awards and know how much it means to them to be voted at the top of the PR game.

"They should all be as proud of their achievements as CIPR Cymru Wales is to cheer them on as upholders of creative and professional PR standards of excellence."

The IPC Athletics European Championships in Swansea ran from August 18 until 23 and saw around 560 athletes from 39 countries compete.
