More than 1,000 athletes representing 40 nations are expected to compete at the 2015 Global Games ©InasAn appeal is being made for sponsors, suppliers and supporters to get behind the 2015 International Sports Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability (Inas) Global Games.

Inas and Games organisers the Federación Ecuatoriana de Deportes para Personas con Discapacidad Intelectual, have launched a collaboration programme.

The budget for the event in Guayaquil, Ecuador is close to $4 million (£2.5 million/€3 million), and a large part of that money will come from sponsorship.

To mark one year to go until the 2015 Global Games, a call is being made for additional support to get up to that cash total.

Organising Committee President Juan Carlos Araujo said: "With one year to go, we are pleased to invite organisations around the world to be involved in this incredible event - as sponsors, as suppliers and as supporters.

"We believe this is a unique and exciting opportunity for companies to get behind Para-sport stars of the future".

More than 1,000 athletes representing 40 nations are expected to attend the 4th edition of the Global Games, which is held every four years.

The Alberto Spencer stadium will host what promises to be a spectacular Opening Ceremony in front of 42,000 spectators on September 20, with the Games ending on September 27.

Inas fundraising manager Kate Rogers said: "The Global Games represents a fantastic opportunity to support young athletes as they prepare for the Games, with qualification to Rio 2016, just a year later, providing that added incentive."
