The IPC Governing Board has discussed a number of issues at its Governing Board meeting in Bonn ©IPCThe Governing Board of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has met at the organisation's headquarters in Bonn, where a number of issues were discussed, including the release of a revised draft of its Classification Code for another round of consultation.

Following a presentation from Anne Hart, chairperson of the IPC Classification Committee the Board approved the release of the latest draft of the Code which will be circulated to membership for further analysis and discussion.

A review of the Classification was launched last year which could see approved changes in place by 2015.

A second period of consultation is already underway and runs until September 30 after which a modified Code will then be presented by the IPC Governing Board as a motion at the 2015 General Assembly.

A range of other issues were covered at the four-day meeting in Bonn.

The IPC Governing is made up of IPC President Sir Philip Craven of Great Britain, vice-president Andrew Parsons of Brazil, Mohamed Alhameli of the United Arab Emirates, South Korean Kyung-won Na and Japan's Yasushi Yamawaki.

American Ann Cody, Rita van Driel of The Netherlands, Canada's Patrick Jarvis, New Zealand's Duane Kale, Kenya's Jairus Mogalo, Denmark's John Petersson and Miguel Sagarra of Spain complete the Board.

The IPC Strategic Plan 2015-2018, which will be published next year, was discussed.

Membership to a number of IPC Standing Committees were approved including Anti-Doping; Audit and Finance; Classification; Legal and Ethics; Medical; and Sports Science.

The make-up of these committees will be announced later.

Also approved by the Board were the IPC Audited accounts for 2013, which will be published next month in the IPC Annual Report, the IPC Anti-Doping Code, and amended rules for four IPC sports - ice sledge hockey, powerlifting, swimming and wheelchair dance sport.

The Board also received updates on the IPC's broadcasting strategy and the progress of each department at the IPC.

A full report was also given to the Board regarding the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games ahead of next month's debrief in PyeongChang, which will host the Games in 2018.

Rio 2016 President Carlos Nuzman and executive director of sport and Paralympic integration, Agberto Guimaraes also provided the Board with an update on preparations for the 2016 Paralympic Games.

The next IPC Governing Board meeting is due to take place on October 6 and 7 following the IPC Membership Gathering event in Berlin marking the organisation's 25th anniversary, from October 3 to 5.
