The three bidders presented to the Commission, chaired by Germany's IOC Executive Board member Claudia Bokel, in separate 60-minute video conferences from their own cities.

The Glasgow 2018 bid presentation included a heavyweight line-up that featured British Olympic Association (BOA) chairman Sebastian Coe and IOC vice-president Sir Craig Reedie as they look to bring the event to the Scottish city four years after it stages the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

"Today the Evaluation Commission got under the skin of our Candidature File," said Coe.

"Their searching questions allowed the panel to share precise details to give them a better understanding and belief that Glasgow 2018 can, in partnership with the IOC, deliver a creative, innovative and global Youth Olympic Games in 2018."


Medellín has also expressed its confidence following the Colombian city's presentation to the Commission.

"Today was another great day for the Medellín dream to bring the Youth Olympic Games to Colombia in 2018," said Medellín bid leader and IOC member Andres Botero Phillipsbourne.

"We were able to show the unique attributes of our bid plan to the IOC Evaluation Commission, who clearly have worked hard to understand our proposal and we highlighted our modern venues and the natural beauty of Medellín.

"Most people don't know that we have a warm climate throughout the entire year and perfect weather conditions to host sport events."


Buenos Aires 2018 bid chief executive Francisco Irrarazaval was also delighted with the Argentinian cities' presentation.

"In Buenos Aires life and sport are one and the same, which is why so many of our iconic sporting venues are in the centre of the city," he said.
