Kim made the remarks during a special event at the Alpensia Convention Centre, a venue in Pyeongchang which sits next to the Sliding Centre, currently under construction ahead of the Games.

The event was attended by high-level representatives of 30 foreign missions stationed in South Korea in order to brief them on the progress of Pyeongchang's preparations, as well as the International Dignitary Programme and the Dream Programme.

"Pyeongchang's preparation is on track," Kim told delegates.

"We're putting forth a lot of effort into creating a festival-like atmosphere during Games time by highlighting characteristics of the host region.

"I'd like to ask for your support and also wish that you [ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions] be part of our journey."
