The Russian_International_Olympic_University_24_JulyJuly 24 – The Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) are taking part in a series of academic conferences in the United Kingdom ahead of the launch of its inaugural Master of Sport Administration (MSA) course on July 30.

The course will be launched at Russia.Sochi.Park at an event in one week's time, during this summer's Olympics.

RIOU (pictured top) first visited the ICSEMSI conference, the largest sports science, education and medicine forum in the world, in Glasgow.

This year is the fifth of the conference, which will involve over 1,000 delegates from academic and sport organisations.

The RIOU delegation features their chief executive, Professor Lev Belousov, and Professor Nikolay Peshin, the head of research and development.

They are then travelling to Loughborough University later this week for the Colloquium of Olympic Studies and Research Centres (OSRC).

Held by the university and the British Olympic Foundation on July 25 and 26, RIOU will be joining the OSRC network for the first time.

They will also speak about the information legacy programme of Sochi 2014 and opportunities for international partnerships.

The final stop of the tour is the launch event for the MSA course in London.

The event will include a presentation on the university and its campus and a panel discussion followed by a question and answer session.

Those taking part include Sochi 2014 President Dmitry Chernyshenko, Vladimir Potanin, a leading Russian businessman and chairman of RIOU's supervisory board, International Ice Hockey Federation President René Fasel, British Universities minister David Willetts, Podium chairman Geoff Petts and Russian MP and former Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova.

"Presenting at ICSEMIS is the perfect way to begin RIOU's tour of UK conferences – it is such a prestigious and popular forum – and we thank everyone here for receiving us so warmly," said Belousov.

"We cannot wait to network with and learn from all the delegates we will be meeting at Loughborough University and at the Education Summit at the British Business Club, and to showcase our University and flagship MSA course.

"And the culmination of our tour will, of course, be our own event at Russia.Park on July 30."
