Scissor Sisters_playing_Sochi_2_February_2012February 21 - Some leading Russian and international rock stars, including the Scissor Sisters (pictured left) and Bi-2 (pictured below), have played at the Red Rocks music festival in Krasnaya Polyana as part of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad.

This is Sochi 2014's "year of music" which got underway earlier this month with a week of music concluding with a concert featuring Yuri Bashmet and "The Soloists of Moscow".

The Red Rocks festival took place with approximately 2,000 people in attendance, whilst thousands more were able to see the action live on the official website of the concert.

The festival was located at the Sochi 2014 ski complex on the site where one of the two media villages will be situated in two years' time for the Winter Olympics.

The Scissor Sisters were the headline act, returning to Russia having toured shortly after the release of their debut album eight years ago.

Russian rock group Bi-2 performed their new album 'Spirit', appearing alongside White Lies, Röyskopp, Vopli Vidoplyasova, Naik Borzov, Subwave and MACHETE.

The festival, partnered by Sberbank, followed a similar event in Krasnaya Polyana last year for people across the Krasnodar region.

Dozens more festivals and concerts featuring some of the best Russian classical musicians are planned for the rest of the year.
