November 3 - Sochi 2014 has held a "Clean Sea for Clean City" environmental event, an initiative dedicated to the World Black Sea Day and World Clean-Up Day, with an education eco-town set up on the central square in the city.
Schoolchildren, students and volunteers for Sochi 2014 were all involved.
There was an education roundtable, in which Moscow State University professor Nikolay Drozdov joined representatives of the Sochi City administration, civic environmental groups and business world.
Participants were presented with the "Black Sea Box" project in the form of teaching materials prepared with the help of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), World Wildlife Fund Turkey, the United Nations Development Programme and Coca-Cola, a worldwide Olympic sponsor.
These materials will be introduced to classrooms across Russia, and as part of the event, 16 Sochi 2014 volunteer centres across 12 Russian cities were involved in clean ups.
