It will be attended by athletes as well as team officials, although exact details of attendees are yet to be announced.

At the Olympics the US team finished fourth on the medals table with nine gold medals spread across the four sports of Alpine and freestyle skiing, snowboarding and figure skating.

They also claimed seven silver and 12 bronze medals.

This was one place lower and with a fewer medals table than they finished at Vancouver 2010, albeit with the same number of golden medals.

At the Paralympics meanwhile they finished down in eighth place with two gold medals in ice sledge hockey and snowboarding, as well as seven silver and nine bronze medals,

This was two gold medals and two medals table positions less than they managed in Vancouver.

Both events were notable for the absence either Barrack or Michelle Obama as a political response to the action of the Russian Government in introducing anti-gay right legislation, as well as its military intervention in Ukraine. 

But as the invitation illustrates, the Obamas remains strongly behind both teams and was even involved in an unsuccessful bet with Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper over the outcome of an ice hockey match between the two countries.
