US Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Opening Ceremony outfits unveiled

January 23 - The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has revealed the outfits to be worn by the nation's Olympic and Paralympic athletes at the Sochi 2014 Opening Ceremonies.
Designed by Ralph Lauren, the parade uniforms - 100 per cent of the sales of which will go to the USOC - were unveiled by curling team members Jared Zezel and Jessica Schultz during a fashion segment on NBC's Today Show, with just 15 days to go until the event.
The outfits comprise a knit patchwork cardigan, emblazoned with stars and stripes graphics - to "embody the classic American folk style", according to Ralph Lauren, a cream cotton turtleneck sweater, slim fitting white fleece athletic trousers, black leather boots with red laces and a belt featuring a patriotic red, white and navy design.
"Ralph Lauren truly understands the honour bestowed upon Team USA athletes who will represent our nation at the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games," said Peter Zeytoonjian, USOC managing director of marketing.
"We are thrilled with the Ralph Lauren designs Team USA will wear at the Sochi 2014 Opening Ceremony, a look we feel reflects the pride and embodies the emotion of this special moment for Team USA and all Americans."
Ralph Lauren has been the official outfitter of the US Olympic and Paralympic teams since 2008.
As well as the Sochi 2014 Opening and Closing Ceremony outfits, the fashion house has also created a range of village wear and accessories for the Games in Russia.
"It is a privilege to be a part of dressing Team USA during the Sochi Games," said David Lauren, Ralph Lauren's executive vice-president of advertising, marketing and corporate communications.
"It's a proud moment for us to watch these premier athletes as they walk out representing our nation on a global stage in front of billions of people worldwide."
