The final sale window opened today and will remain open for over two weeks until Wednesday January 8.

There will be opportunities to purchase tickets for all Olympic events, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and tickets can either be ordered online to collect, or purchased directly at the Main Ticketing Centers in Moscow and Sochi.

With tickets at all prices being available - including the cheapest ones which start at 500 rubles (£9/$15/€11) - a purchase would make the "perfect New Year's gift for sports fans", Russian officials claim.

Sochi 2014 organisers added that this will be the "ultimate chance for fans to get their hands on tickets to their favourite events and being able to say that they were a part of history by attending Russia's first ever Olympic Winter Games."

A special section of the ticketing website allowing fans to purchase tickets from other ticketholders - entitled "Fan2Fan" - has also been unveiled.

"Fan2Fan" is the only official online platform through which fans will be able to legally purchase tickets from other spectators and may help fans to find that "special missing ticket" to the Games that is no longer available in the main store, it was claimed.

In recognition of the company's longstanding support of the Olympic Games, only Visa cards are accepted for these ticket purchases..

Normal tickets, as well as those on the ticketing exchange, are available here.
