January 30 - Madrid today launched the logo for its bid to host the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, an event deemed to be a success despite the fact the logo was quickly mired in controversy with one poll claiming that 81 per cent of Spaniards did not like it and a leading commentator describing it as "naff".

January 23 - If the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics were being awarded on the basis of local opinion polls then Baku would be the early favourites after they released a survey claiming that 95 per cent of people in Azerbaijan backed their bid, nearly 30 per cent higher than in Tokyo, the bookmakers choice.

January 21 - Turkey is concentrating its efforts on successfully bidding for the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, the country's Sports Minister Suat Kılıç (pictured) has revealed following reports that they were also planning to launch a campaign to host football's European Championships that year.
