Tokyo 2020 held its fifth Executuve Board meeting today ©TwitterThe Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee is due to move to a new headquarters at the end of March, insidethegames has learned following today's Executive Board meeting.

During the fifth such meeting of the ruling Board of the Organising Committee, members were informed that the majority of the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee will move to a new head office in Toranomon Hills Mori Tower, Minato-ku.

Some Tokyo 2020 departments will, however, remain in the current office located in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building in order to facilitate smooth communications and collaborations with relevant departments of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

The Executive Board also announced the creation of three new commissions - the Urban Planning and Sustainability Commission; Culture and Education Commission; and Economy and Technology Commission.

Members are yet to be announced for the Commissions but it is hoped that, along with the Athletes' and Media Commissions, they will fulfil the aims and vision of Tokyo 2020.

It was also confirmed to the Executive Board that the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, as of January 1, changed its status to a Public Interest Incorporated Foundation.

The change ensures that the Committee will be required to contribute to the promotion of the public interest and the realisation of a vibrant society.
