ATP Event Experts will provide spectator packages for Portuguese fans travelling to Rio 2016 ©Getty Images The Olympic Committee of Portugal (COP) today announced it has appointed ATP Event Experts and its Portuguese partner organisation Agencia Abreu as the official travel agency and ticket re-seller for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Working through Agencia Abreu, ATP Event Experts will manage and sell a range of spectator packages for the Games providing combined deals for tickets, accommodation and travel.

They will be responsible for the organisation, coordination and sale of Olympic tickets to the Portuguese market, as well as arranging the travel of the Portuguese team to Rio 2016. 

"It is important for the COP that the logistics of travel and ticket sales for Rio 2016 is secured by a reputable, knowledgeable and experienced entity as is the case of Abreu and ATP Event Experts," said COP President José Manuel Constantino.

Portugal has won a total of 23 medals at Olympic Games including four gold, eight silver and 11 bronze.

The canoe sprint duo of Emanuel Silva and Fernando Pimenta were the only Portuguese athletes to medal at London 2012 claiming silver, while Alpine skiers Arthur Hanse and Camille Dias were the country's representatives at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.

ATP Event Experts are part of the ATPI Group which was established in 1984 and are one of the world's leading travel management companies.

The firm has previously worked with a range of National Olympic Committees offering ticket and travel packages to a number of Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

It is also an official travel agent for the Rugby World Cup 2015 in England and is the official Commonwealth Games travel office in charge of coordinating travel and accommodation markets for Glasgow 2014.
