Ice skaters_during_Sochi.Park_ice_show_premierJuly 29 - Sochi.Park has tonight staged the premier of its ice show, Sochi: Small Stories of a Big City, which is running until the end of the Olympic Games in London.

Sochi.Park is the main residence of the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee during the Games, and is adjacent to Russia.Park, where the Russian Olympic Committee is based.

The event is being described as the biggest of its kind taking place outside of Russia.

The ice skating show is being held in an indoor arena at Sochi.Park, which has turned part of one of London's most popular parks into a "winter wonderland".

The attractions on offer to the public include the chance to enjoy a simulated ride through the Black Sea resort, a simulation of a luge ride and the chance to play a number of games related to the winter sports which will take place during Sochi 2014.

One of the most popular of these has been the chance to throw snowballs at the mascot of Sochi 2014, the snow leopard, while anyone liking the Baltika facebook page will be given one of their specially designed collectible pins.

Among those performing is Olympic ice dancing champion Tatiana Navka, as well as five other Olympic champions and 18 world champions.

They include Alekei Yagudin, Roman Kostomarov and Oksana Domnina.

Speaking to insidethegames just before the premier, multiple World and European champion Yagudin, who won gold at the Salt Lake City Games in 2002, said: "[This is the] first time I have been to London and somewhere the Summer Olympics are.

"Especially for a lot of people who will be here but will not go to Sochi to see what it is like... our main task is to do our best on the ice and show people Russia and its winter spirit.

"We already skated the first show this morning...it was good, not sold out, but when people stand up from their places that is the best feeling you can get, knowing that people like it and enjoy it."

The spectacular show features dance and the technical skill of those performing, telling a number of stories within a larger story.

Shows take place at 12pm and 7pm every day until August 12, the day of the London 2012 Closing Ceremony.

The event was created by Ilya Averbukh, a world renowned figure skating champion.

A total of 50 artists, 250 handmade costumes, seven tonnes of props and 15 original songs feature in the show, which lasts for an hour-and-a-half.

Tickets are still available until August 7.
