October 4 - HRH the Duchess of Cambridge will meet young athletes at the Copper Box Arena in the Olympic ParkHer Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge is to pay a special visit to a SportsAid Athlete Workshop at the Copper Box Arena in London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park later this month.

The Duchess will view young SportsAid athletes taking part in a number of sports activities, including wheelchair basketball, cerebral palsy football, volleyball, fencing and badminton, during her schedueld visit on October 18.

She will then join them and their parents as they attend educational workshops about nutrition in sport, working with the media and how to make the best use of social media.

The SportsAid charity has been providing funding to young British sportsmen and women aged between 12-to-18-years-old who aspire to be the next Olympic, Paralympic or world champions since 1976 and works with the governing bodies of around 70 sports in the United Kingdom.

At London 2012 almost two-thirds of the British team were former recipients of SportsAid's support, winning 20 of Team GB's 29 gold medals and 27 of ParalympicsGB's 34 gold medals.

The Duchess, who became the charity's patron in May of this year, will be joined on the day by a number of Olympic and Paralympic stars who have benefitted from SportsAid support,including London 2012 gold medallist Katherine Grainger, Athens 2004 Paralympic bronze medallist Ade Adepitan and former world champion swimmer Karen Pickering.

Also set to appear on the day are London 2012 rowing silver medallist Mark Hunter, Athens 2004 silver medal winning diver Leon Taylor, Olympic bronze medallist Stephen Parry, Athens 2004 Paralympic champion Danny Crates, double Olympic rowing champion Steve Williams, Olympic badminton silver medallist Gail Emms and London 2012 Paralympian Alistair Patrick-Heselton.
