The International Olympic Committee has launced a new app to mark 100 days until the 2014 Sochi Winter GamesOctober 30 - With just 100 days to go until the start of the Sochi 2014 Winter Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has launched a new app to help athletes communicate with each other and their fans via their mobile devices.

The Olympic Athletes' Hub app acts as a searchable directory of the social media activities of Olympic and Paralympic athletes allowing easy access to Facebook and Twitter feeds, as well as any content posted to Instagram.

Fans can use the app to connect with the Olympians, with athletes able to text each other and the IOC directly, or vice versa.

"The new app and updates unveiled today are the latest example of the IOC's continued efforts to connect athletes with their fans," said Claudia Bokel, Olympic fencing silver medallist and chair of the IOC Athletes' Commission.

"The Hub is a great tool for us athletes to interact with the public and even amongst ourselves.

"The new additions make it even easier for us to communicate in fun, innovative ways."

Using the Hub's search function, users can locate athletes by country, team, sport, or edition of the Games.

The Hub also offers fans the opportunity to unlock secret training tips from Olympic greats by simply "liking", or following, content on Facebook and Twitter respectively.

More than 5,000 verified Olympians have already joined the Hub, and the number is expected to continue to grow as the countdown to Sochi 2014 continues.
