Samsung chairman Lee Kun-hee has recovered from illness and is expected to travel to Buenos Aires for the IOC Session next monthAugust 24 - South Korea's Lee Kun-hee, the chairman of Samsung Electronics, is expected to travel to Buenos Aires next month for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session after recovering from illness.

The 71-year-old billionaire had been admitted to a hospital in Seoul earlier this month suffering from pneumonia-like symptoms, according to a spokesman for Samsung.

But he has now been released and is expected to recuperate at home before travelling to Argentina for the Session, which is due to start on September 7 when the IOC will choose from Istanbul, Madrid and Tokyo to host the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics.

The following day the IOC will decide whether to retain wrestling on the Olympic programme after Rio 2016 or drop it and add squash or baseball-softball.

As a former President of the Korean Amateur Wrestling Federation, there seems little doubt about which sport Lee will cast his vote for.

Then on September 10 the 101 members will make arguably the most important decision of the Session when they will pick someone to replace Jacques Rogge as President of the IOC as he steps down.

The candidates are Germany's Thomas Bach, Ukraine's Sergey Bubka, Puerto Rico's Richard Carrion, Switzerland's Denis Oswald, Singapore's Ser Miang Ng and Taiwan's C K Wu.

Lee, whose family fortune is estimated by Forbes magazine at $12.6 billion (£8.1 billion/€9.4 billion), has suffered increasingly from health problems in recent years and has a history of lung problems.
