Atos will help ASOIF develop its new International Sports Information SystemAugust 19 - The Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) has joined forces with IT company Atos to develop what it calls the first results and common data platform for sport.

The Worldwide Olympic Partner will create the International Sports Information System (ISIS) for ASOIF members to collate results and athlete biographical information, which will then be made available to major event organisers, including at the Olympics, to improve media services.

"We are delighted to work with Atos on ISIS as they have built a very strong reputation in the sports sector, in particular in their role as the key integrator during the Olympic Games," ASOIF executive director Andrew Ryan said.

"They have a unique knowledge of the Olympic Data Feed (ODF) defined by Atos on behalf of the IOC [International Olympic Committee] that we are currently evaluating to see if it can be integrated with a common data exchange protocol for ISIS.

"This project is very significant to the IFs [International Federations] as data becomes increasingly important.

"Through ISIS we will simultaneously improve the quality and increase the quantity of data available from all 28 summer sports giving access on a single platform to business end users thus increasing potential exposure for all our members."

Atos will deliver the first phase of the project, which will see the IFs take ownership and control of the collection, verification, distribution and exploitation of their sports data.

Initially it will define a standard that allows for the integration of multisport data to form the foundation of the ISIS and help each IF to improve its own data information systems, while becoming compatible with a common data exchange protocol.

"We are very proud to be at the forefront of this strategic step forward in the sports industry," Yan Noblot, chief operating officer at Atos' major events unit, said.

"Not only will all athlete data be secure and correctly centralised conforming to one standard, it will also be much more efficient and effective to export the data to major events such as the Olympic Games and other sports client groups."
