British Olympic BallJuly 24 - Tickets are now on sale for the 2013 British Olympic Ball as members of the public will have the opportunity to mix with Olympic stars from the past and present at the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London, on Wednesday October 30.

Tables and tickets are now available to book for the Ball - supported by British Olympic Association (BOA) partners BP and Nissan - which will have a winter theme and celebrate just 100 days to go before the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi begin on February 7 next year.

And one of Britain's biggest names in winter sport, Amy Williams will join one of the greatest Olympians ever, five-time rowing champion Sir Steve Redgrave, as co-chairs of the event and both will be giving speeches on the night.

Williams, who at Vancouver 2010 became the first Briton to win an individual gold medal at the Winter Olympics since figure skater Robin Cousins won gold in Lake Placid in 1980, is encouraging people to come and support the event which help to raise funds for TeamGB athletes.

"By attending the Ball you can know that you're helping Team GB to be the best that our athletes can be," said the bob skeleton gold medallist.

"We need to capitalise on the support Team GB received during the London 2012 Games and keep that feeling going to give our winter Olympians the best possible chance of succeeding.

"The BOA always does a brilliant job in putting on the Ball and encouraging people to donate.

"Winter sports don't always get the same support that summer sports do so anything we can do to help them is always appreciated."

The Ball will be attended by more than 400 guests as well as a host of London 2012 medal-winning Olympians and winter sport athletes hoping to be on the plane to Sochi.

Sebastian Coe, appointed as chairman of the BOA in November 2012, will also be attending on the night and highlighted the importance of the event.

"Off the back of the success of Team GB at London 2012, and with only 100 days to go to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games on the day of the Ball, a new generation of athletes is emerging who have the talent and drive to inspire our country," said the former chairman of London 2012.

"Together, we have the opportunity to support Britain's Olympic athletes by attending The British Olympic Ball 2013 – and in so doing, we will make certain Team GB continues to benefit from the world-class resources and support required to excel on the world's greatest sporting stage, the Olympic Winter and Summer Games."

Sir Steve, who won the first of his five golds at Los Angeles 1984, is looking forward to hosting the gala event, where gold tables have already sold out.

"The British Olympic Ball has become a regular fixture in my diary over the years," he said.

"It provides the public with the opportunity to mix with some of the best sportspeople in the country and play a part in their quest for Olympic glory.

"It's always a fun evening as athletes don't often get to have a night off if they're in a heavy training block so people get to see a different, lighter side to their personality."
