Focusing on how sports and cities can connect, the Summit in Swiss city Lausanne will bring together a host of key players.

Bob Bowman, coach of the most decorated Olympian of all time in the form of Phelps, will give an insight into "how the rise of a champion can push a city to build support around sport".

Award-winning journalist Mihir Bose will also speak at the Summit.

Bose, who writes for the London Evening Standard, the Financial Times and The Sunday Times, will talk about whether sport events can contribute to a better life for citizens of the host cities, or if other sports initiatives are more effective, as part of a panel discussion led by members of the international media.

"The programme reflects really important issues on how sport and cites can interact in a smarter and more sustainable way, said Mélanie Duparc, secretary general of the World Union of Olympic Cities.

"We are really happy to welcome Bowman and Bose at the conference.

"They are leaders in their domains and will undoubtedly add tremendous insights to the challenge of creating cities and sport."

Other themes covered by the Summitt, which is being held from November 5 to 7, include: how to collaborate between cities and commercial partners, how to build a strong public support for sport investment, and how to integrate the hosting of major sport events in the sport policy programme of cities.

University of Westminster senior lecturer Andrew Smith will speak about how to integrate the hosting of major sports events in the sport policy programme of cities.
