HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein has been appointed to five IOC Commisions for 2014 ©JOCApril 3 - Prince Feisal Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC), has said it is a "privilege" to be appointed to key roles in five International Olympic Committee (IOC) commissions for 2014.

Appointed by IOC President Thomas Bach, Prince Feisal will, according to a JOC statement, "provide vital assistance and expert advice to the IOC and Olympic Games Organising Committees" covering International Relations, TV Rights and New Media, Women and Sport, Sport and Environment, and the International Olympic Truce Foundation.

Prince Feisal has been a member of the IOC's Women and Sport Commission since 2006.

After founding Generations For Peace in 2007, he has worked in supporting and training leaders of youth from conflicted communities in an effort to use the power of sport to unite children and youths in these troubled areas.

His vision to promote and instil peace through sport also led to Jordan being awarded the IOC Seminar on Sport and Peace for the Middle East in 2007.

In 1985 Prince Feisal graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering - specialising in communications - whilst in 1998 he received his Masters of Management from London Business School in 1998.

In 2004 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General in the Jordanian Air force and became the assistant to the chairman of the joint chief of staff for Air Force Affairs and Information Technology.

Following the announcement, Prince Feisal spoke of his pride on the level of progress achieved by the IOC in spreading Olympism and building a better world through sport.

"It is a privilege to continue playing a part in the Olympic Movement's commitment to universality," said Prince Feisal.

"At the JOC, we have a vision for sport to play a part in the lives of all Jordanians.

"For this to happen it is important that the Olympic values continue to resonate around the world through the promotion of the Olympic spirit."

Despite the additional five roles, Prince Feisal, in his role as a member of the Executive Board of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), chairman of OCA's Peace Through Sport Committee and a member of the IOC's Entourage Commission, is set to remain active in the use of sport as a tool for peace and development across the Asian continent.
