The Toronto 2015 Organising Committee have confirmed the route of the Torch Relay ahead of the Games in JulyA 41-day Torch Relay route, beginning in Mexico before criss-crossing around Canada, has been confirmed ahead of the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games. 

The Torch will visit five national historic sites, including Fort Henry in Kingston, as well as six Canadian Forces Bases and a provincial park.

Around 130 communities across Ontario and five outside of the region will have a chance to see the Torch as it descends on a 41-day journey, beginning with an Aztec Lighting Ceremony at the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan, Mexico, before it is scheduled to arrive in Canada on May 30.

From there, the Torch will embark on its Canadian tour as it moves to Thunder Bay, visiting the Terry Fox Monument, before it arrives in Nipigon, the northern most city of the Ontario leg.

The Torch is also set to be involved in over 180 celebrations in the build-up to the Pan American Games, including the Canada Day festivities on Parliament Hill on July 1.

"The Games are all about bringing people together, and the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay will unite Ontarians, Canadians and communities," said Toronto 2015 chief executive Saäd Rafi.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for people to experience the emotion, excitement and significance of the Pan Am flame."

The Torch's journey will include 5,000 kilometres on the road and 15,000km in the air, before it reaches its final destination in Toronto in time to officially open the Games at the Opening Ceremony, due to take place on July 10.

Exact times and dates of the celebrations are due to be released in April, with the street route set to be revealed in May.

A separate Torch relay will take place prior to the start of the Parapan Am Games on August 7.
